About River Indigo

River Indigo was founded in 2018 by Maryrose, who wanted to introduce classic clothing in a wider range of color into the Kloof area. Chey has worked alongside Maryrose from the beginning, managing the Kloof shop and now the online store as well. Together we have been through Covid, lockdowns, riots, flooding and so much more but have managed to overcome this and persevere and grow our brand!

The name River Indigo is inspired by the River Indigo tree which is indigenous and found in many gardens in the Kloof area, where we are based, and whose leaves and roots were once used to produce indigo dye.

We are a proudly local brand who is owned and run by women. We are based in Kloof in KZN. Our products are handmade using good quality, natural materials that are sustainable and will last.
